Equity and Innovation Grant

Equity and Innovation Grant

ARI Equity and Innovation Grants are available to students, faculty, and staff, and are meant to encourage new and sustainable ways to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity within the Arts Division. Award amounts will range from $500-$5,000 depending on the scope and potential impact of the project. Student applicants are encouraged to consult with ARI staff prior to submitting - we want to make sure your voices are heard.

Our Equity and Innovation Grants are available to students, faculty, and staff. They are meant to encourage new and sustainable ways to promote equity, inclusion, and diversity within the Arts Division. ARI will provide funding for proposals that clearly articulate how the project will enhance equity and inclusion to benefit instruction, research productivity, student outcomes, and/or faculty development. Recognizing that there are various needs that require specific and targeted efforts, funding can be utilized in a myriad of ways. For example, proposals might include the development of working groups or workshops, conversation series, arts research projects, exhibitions, curriculum revision or development, focus on the creation of resources for under-represented or under-served students, recruitment or mentoring programs, efforts to bring diverse voices to campus, or cultural/educational programs. We are especially interested in supporting the needs of underrepresented faculty and in the development of innovative courses that explore issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and/or are community-engaged and rooted in culturally responsive pedagogy and equity-mindedness.

Evaluation Criteria
In the project description on the application form, the applicant(s) should detail the specific anticipated outcome of the grant and specify how the proposed project addresses issue(s) related to climate, equity, racial justice, sense of belonging, and/or inclusion within a program, department, population, or across the division or campus. The committee will consider the quality of the proposal, its potential impact, and the potential for sustainability of the work, asking the question: will this project help bring about real systemic change? We are especially interested in proposals that are generated by and include the perspectives of students, faculty and staff impacted by historic and systemic inequities.
