ARI administers two Visiting Artists programs designed to bring visual, performing, media and design artists to campus to engage deeply with students and faculty, and share their work with the broader UC Santa Cruz community.
The ARI Collaborative Research Grants support faculty wishing to bring Visiting Artists to campus for extended residencies. Allocations for Visiting Artists will generally fall in the $2,500 - $5,000 range, depending on the length of stay and the national reputation of the proposed Visiting Artist. Application deadlines: November 15, April 15.
The Superheroes & Other Misfits Visiting Artist program is part of the ARI’s Art and Oppression initiative. Offered in alternate years, the funds support artists/researchers whose creative work responds to oppression and/or is silenced, or is from countries where the creative work is oppressed. Issues may range from cultural to social/political or environmental artwork, as examples. Next offered in 2022.
