The UCSC Committee on Research offers grants in the following areas:
Foundation Board Opportunity Fund
The UC Santa Cruz Foundation provides seed funds to initiate or support short-term campus projects through the Board Opportunity Fund (BOF), established in January 2008. The Foundation accepts proposals that allow UCSC faculty and staff to take advantage of unique opportunities to support a strategic project aligned with academic priorities. This may be an incentive for further fundraising or a vehicle for raising awareness and visibility for the campus. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
Hellman Fellowship for Assistant Professors
Established at UCSC in 2011, the purpose of the Hellman Fellows Program is to support substantially the research of promising assistant professors who show capacity for great distinction in their research. Applications due in February.
The Humanities Institute grants allow Humanities faculty and students to excel by providing time to focus on all aspects of scholarly research from generating new ideas to visiting the archive and working through the writing process. We directly support the work of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates through a range of fellowship opportunities. Deadlines vary.
The Office of Research funds several ARI awards through the seed fund initiative. For larger, interdisciplinary/collaborative or cross-cutting programs, please consult with ARI to discuss a separate proposal to the ORD Seed Fund Initiatives program.
All Senate and Faculty Fellows of Porter College are eligible to apply. Deadlines vary.
Students apply for funding to work with faculty on research projects. Eligibility is limited to current Porter College students who will be juniors or seniors during the quarters for which they are applying and who have a good to excellent academic record.
